The M.D. of Peace maintains its own landfill site, available to all Municipal residents.  It is located 7 1/2 miles south and 1 mile west of the Hamlet of Brownvale on SW18-81-25W5.

Alberta Environment requires that the landfill be manned whenever open; therefore the landfill is only open two days a week in order to keep costs to a minimum.

May 1 - June 30

· Wednesdays 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

· Saturdays 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

SUMMER HOURS

July 1 - September 30

· Wednesdays 3:00 - 8:00 p.m.

· Saturdays 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

FALL HOURS

October 1 - 31

· Wednesdays 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

· Saturdays 1:00 - 5:00 p.m.

WINTER HOURS

November 1 - April 30

· Wednesdays 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.

· Saturdays 1:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Household garbage is free to all residents (you may be asked for your legal land description).  There are charges for various other goods:

Refrigerators/Freezers $25.00 per item                                                      

Stoves, Furnaces, Washers, Dryers, Hot Water Tanks      $10.00 per item

Batteries                                      $  2.00 per item

Car Bodies                                   $25.00 per item

For Non-Residents of the Municipality there are other charges in addition to the above:  All Household Garbage        $25.00 per pickup load

Tires                                              $ 2.00 per tire

Cement, Rock, etc.                          $10.00 per pickup load

Grain Screenings, Treated Seed       $50.00 per truck load
