Suppression T Agreement with Water Coop
Council approved an agreement between the Shaftsbury Water Coop and the MD for the use of the fire suppression T connection at Strong Creek Park. Administration has been directed to finalize this agreement with the Shaftsbury Water Coop.
Administrative Policies
Council reviewed and approved updates and amendments to the following administrative policies:
- ADM-20 Investment Policy
- ADM-23 Prohibited Contributions
Regional Energy Committee - Alberta Community Partnership Grant
Council passed a motion to support the County of Northern Lights in its application for the Alberta Community Partnership (inter-municipal collaboration stream) grant. This grant will fund activities undertaken by the Regional Energy Committee, which includes the MD of Peace 135 as a partner alongside the Town of Grimshaw, the Town of Peace River, Northern Sunrise County, and the County of Northern Lights, the managing partner. The MD of Peace participates in this committee formed to promote energy development, including nuclear development in the region.
Removal of Inoperable Water Fixture at Strong Creek Park
Council approved a recommendation to remove the old water fixture located at Strong Creek Park.
Marquee Tent Rental
Council approved a request from the Resource for Suicide Prevention to use the MD of Peace marquee tent for their upcoming retreat on October 5 and 6, 2024.
Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency Contract
Council approved a five-year contract with the Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency (MMSA), maintaining current service rates. During the meeting, MMSA Executive Director Brian Allen provided an update and introduced Inwon Nteogwuija, the new Planner for MMSA. The agency offers municipalities support in planning, economic development, and community engagement.
