Fire Safety Tips for Your farm & Acreage

To reduce risks to your home and property, adhere to these best
practices:

To reduce wildfire risks:

  • Mow your lawn short within 5 ft (1.5 m) of buildings.
  • Minimize brush and trees near your home, using wildfire-resistant plants
    spaced apart.
  • Keep combustible materials at least 30 ft (10 m) away from structures.
  • Regularly clear debris from eavestroughs and roofs to prevent sparks.
  • Trim tree branches to 6 ft (2 m) off the ground to lower ignition risk.
  • Maintain all buildings on your property similarly to your home.
  • Develop and practice a home escape and wildfire evacuation plan.
