Willing and Eastman Re-Elected as Reeve and Deputy Reeve, Council Adopts New Vision and Mission

October 23, 2024 – During the Municipal District (MD) of Peace 135 annual organizational meeting held yesterday, Robert Willing was reelected as Reeve and Sandra Eastman was reelected as Deputy Reeve. Council also officially accepted its newly developed vision and mission statements. The vision—“Progressive. Prosperous. Peaceful.”—coupled with the mission—“Providing accountable leadership for exceptional quality of life”—will guide the Council for years to come. These statements were crafted during a strategic planning session in September.

In addition, Council set its meeting schedule for the year, continuing regular meetings on the second Tuesday of each month at 9 am and the fourth Tuesday at 5 pm, with no evening meetings in July, August, and December. “Coffee with Council” will continue to take place each quarter with the next one taking place on November 26, 2024 at 3 pm in Council Chambers. Coffee with Council is an initiative created so residents can speak to Council members in-person about any subject matter pertaining to the MD.

During the organizational meeting, Councillors reviewed the Code of Conduct Bylaw and Procedural Bylaw, as well as remuneration rates. They also appointed Councillors to over thirty various committees and boards, of which the MD has active representation.

“We are honored to serve our region and deeply appreciate the engagement of our residents,” says Reeve Willing. “We are committed to ensuring that the MD of Peace continues to be a progressive, prosperous, and peaceful community for years to come, and we encourage ratepayers to feel free to reach out, attend council meetings, and participate in our Coffee with Council sessions - Your voice matters to us.”
