Fire Restriction
In accordance with MD of Peace No. 135 Fire Protection Bylaw 6/2025 section 12, and under the Forest and Prairie Protection Act, a Fire Control Order is now in effect for lands within MD of Peace No. 135 Jurisdiction located outside the Forest Protection Area.
***No new fire permits will be issued***
Prohibited:
- Outdoor wood fires on public lands, including backcountry and random camping areas
- Any burning, other than a campfire, on private land
- Fireworks and exploding targets
- Tiki Torches
Permitted with caution:
- Safe backyard and campgrounds with a designated fire pit
- Burn Barrels
- SparkIncinerator Regulated Under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act
- Propane and natural gas-powered appliances, Pellet grills, and BBQs that are CSA approved, or UL certified.
Landowners who have completed burns over the summer are encouraged to revisit the locations to ensure the fires are extinguished and cold to the touch.
Extreme caution should be exercised with any fire at this time. The fire restriction will remain in effect until conditions improve.
Never leave a fire unattended. Soak it, stir it, and soak it again until cool to the touch to ensure it is extinguished.
